Mazzy was my first Samoyed upon moving to Minnesota. His registered name is
Donnereign Diamond Deuce, son of Ch Donnereign Prairie
Islander ("Naoisha")
and Donnereign White Diamonds ("Whitney"). Five generation pedigree here. Both of Mazzy's parents
were working sleddogs, owned by Bob
and Helen Newman in North Dakota; Mazzy loved to run himself and seemed to best like running at wheel position
on my sled team.
Mazz loved to play fetch (not always a typical Sammy trait!) and liked to sleep with his nose pressed to the bottom of the door where the cold air
seeped in.
In May 2004, Mazzy won his final championship points. He went on to win multiple Best Of Breeds and a Best In Specialty Show
at the 2005 Samoyed Association of Minneapolis-St. Paul Specialty Show.
Mazzer-Jazzers, you were my first Minnesota Samoyed, my first show dog, and my first sled dog -- my partner
in so many new and incredible things. You quite literally changed my life. I will miss your
smile, your occasional stubbornness, and your soulful deep howl that always made me laugh.
My beautiful, beautiful boy... how can you be gone?
